Sunshine Stars defender Stephen Eze has been confirmed as the replacement for suspended Austin Obaroakpo in Monday’s African Nations Championship clash against The Mena of Niger Republic here in Kigali.
Eze shone like million stars in Sunday evening training at the Kigali Stadium, combining hardwork with versatility to earn coach Sunday Oliseh’s plaudits.
Obaroakpo had bagged two yellow cards in the qualifiers thus ruling him out Nigeria’s opener against Niger Republic.
The Abia Warriors centre-back is Super Eagles most reliable defender but his presence would be greatly missed following his ability to ensure calmness among Nigeria’s rearguards.
Meanwhile, Super Eagles had a feel of the Kigali Regional stadium turf at Nyamirambo on Sunday evening.
Also, Ghanaian-born Niger Republic defender, Koffi Dankwa, has been finally ruled out of Monday group opener with the Super Eagles.
Completesportsnigeria.com gathered that the highly experienced defender will miss the epic clash after he bagged two yellow cards in the qualifiers.
The Sahel FC star featured for Mena when they played at the 2013 AFCON in South Africa and will be available for Niger Republic against Tunisia.
