Home-based Super Eagles winger Osas Okoro has rued the absence of vice-captain, Austin Obaroakpo, from Monday's Group C African Nations Championship opener against Niger due to suspension, but believes the level of preparation will see the Eagles see off the challenges of the Nigeriens.

Okoro told Completesportsnigeria.com that the trio of Jamiu Alimi, Stephen Eze and Kalu Orji are capable options in the defence line for the opener.

“We will miss him no doubt but we have good players to fill that void and win our opening game,” Okoro told Completesportsnigeria.com here in Kigali.

Meanwhile, Shooting Stars defender Jamiu Alimi says he is ready to step in if called up for Monday’s opener at the Kigali stadium.

“We all are ready for the game and we all know starting on a winning note eases off pressure so that’s what we are aiming at,” Alimi said.
