Nigeria midfielder Mikel Obi’s proposed move to Fenerbahce was shelved due to the heavy price tag placed on his head by Chelsea, according to reports in England.
The Metro claims that the English champions requested the Turkish outfit to pay £25.2m pounds for the midfielder.
The Turkish giants according to the report were however unwilling to meet the asking price for a player who is not a first team regular and pulled out of the move.
Mikel has been linked with a move away from the West London side after failing to nail down a starting berth at Chelsea last term.
He was out kept of the team by Nemanja Matic and he could be forced to play second fiddle to the same player again next season if he remains at the club.
The former Lyn Oslo of Norway player has also been linked with a number of teams in Europe and Asia.
He has enjoyed a successful spell since his well publicised move to Chelsea, winning two Premier League titles, one Champions League and Europa League as well as four FA Cups.
