By Sab Osuji:

Beijibg 2008 Dream Team defender, Chibuzor Okonkwo tells Completesportsnigeria.com he’s pleased with his new role at high riding Gabros International, Nnewi.

Okonkwo who was part of coach Samson Siasia’s U-23 squad that won silver medal during the 2008 Olympic Games was drafted to the center-back role by Bulgarian gaffer, Mikto Dobrev.

“It was during our game at Sunshine, the coach asked me to move to the center-back position and sincerely, I’m enjoying every bit of it”.

Okonkwo has scored two goals so far in the league all from set pieces.

“As a professional, one has to be versatile, I never knew I could cope in that capacity but I must say big thanks to the coaches for the decision to assign a new role for me.

“The coach may have observed I could do well in that position before he asked me to move to that role”.

Gabros International are third on the log and Okonkwo who is one of the most experienced players in the squad is not raising his shoulders over their run.

“We just have to keep working hard, we need to keep our focus and take the games as they come.

“Our plan is to keep improving game by game and see where we’ll be at the end of the day”.
