The Golden Eaglets lost 2-1 to Croatia in their final group A game at the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile.
The Eaglets who have already qualified for the round of 16 thanks to their victories against USA and Chile, took the lead through Victor Osimhen in the 20th minute.
All efforts by the Croatians to restore parity proved abortive as the Eaglets took the 1-0 lead into the break.
In the second half, the Croatians came out all guns blazing and were eventually rewarded in the 50th minute through Brekalo who found the back of the net.
Four minutes later, the Croatians made it 2-1, this time through Majic.
Unlike the Golden Eaglets, the Croatians held on to their lead until the final whistle to claim their first victory of the tournament.
It would be recalled that the Eaglets lost 3-2 to Croatia at last month's Suwon Invitational Tourney in South Korea.
In the group's other game, host Chile defeated USA 4-1.
The Golden Eaglets top the group with six points. Croatia finished second with five points, while Chile had four points. Nigeria and Croatia go through, automatically, to the Round of 16, while third placed USA will wait to see if they are eligible as one of the four best third finished teams.
