Cote d’Ivoire striker Max Gradel has cautioned against underestimating their 2015 AFCON semifinal opponents DR Congo.
The Elephants face The Leopards on Wednesday night in the first semifinal of the 2015 Africa Cup in Bata.
Cote d’Ivoire qualified to the penultimate stage after an efficient 3-1 over Africa’s top ranked side Algeria on Sunday.
“We are happy. We had faith in ourselves to seal the qualification. It is still a long way to go. We must not become euphoric and focus on the next game which won’t be a walk in the park,” Gradel said.
Wednesday’s semifinal MEETING will be the two sides third in five months after Cote d’Ivoire beat DR Congo 2-1 away and lost 4-3 at home in Abidjan in a 2015 Africa Cup Group D qualifier.
Gradel, who scored in the first leg win in Kinshasa in October, has been one of Cote d’Ivoire’s star players at this years Africa Cup scoring two goals.
“I remain very focused on the competition. I hope I will continue to bring my contribution and my determination to help the team go all the way at this AFCON,” Gradel said.
