In-form Super Eagles winger, Victor Moses, played the full game for West Ham United, but couldn’t help them see off Leicester City, who won 2-1 after 120 minutes.
Joseph Dodoo scored as early as the sixth minute, but Mauro Zarate equalized for the Hammers in the 27th minute.
And after 90 minutes, with both sides still locked at 1-1, the game went into extra-time, before Andy King decided the tie when he struck on 116 minutes.
At Craven Cottage, Stoke City put their league woes behind them and booked their place into the next round of the Capital One Cup after beating Fulham 1-0, with Peter Crouch getting the only goal in the 33rd minute.
In action for Stoke was Osaze Odemwingie, who was in the starting 11. He was later replaced by Xherdan Shakiri with six minutes remaining.
Hull City also progressed into the next round, thanks to a 1-0 home win against Swansea courtesy of a 41st minute strike by David Meyler.
In action for Hull were Chuba Akpom, who played for 90 minutes, and Moses Odubajo, who replaced Ryan Taylor in the 59th minute. Meanwhile, Sone Aluko, was not involved in the game as he was an unused substitute.
And still on the Capital One Cup, Manchester City defeated Sunderland 4-1 inside the Stadium of Light. Goals from Sergio Aguero, Raheem Sterling, Kevin de Bruyne and a Vito Mannone own-goal, secured a comfortable win for the EPL league leaders.
Youngster, Kelechi Iheanacho, was surprisingly left out of the squad that travelled to Tyneside.
In the Bundesliga, Super Eagles striker, Anthony Ujah, was once again on the losing side as his team Werder Bremen lost 2-1 away to Darmstadt.
Ujah who featured for 90 minutes, couldn’t find the back of the net, as a brace from Sandro Wagner in the 31st and 84th minute, sealed the win for Darmstadt. Bremen’s goal was scored by Aron Johannson on 19 minutes.
In the weekend clash against Ingolstadt in which Ujah also featured, Bremen lost 1-0 at home.
And in the Greek Super League, Brown Ideye made his second appearance for Olympiakos as they beat Xanthi 3-1.
Ideye, who joined Olympiakos from West Brom, this summer, was on for 90 minutes.
