By Johnny Edward:
Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is delighted to have Nigerian star Victor Moses feature in Sunday's Community Shield clash against Arsenal but sad the 26-year-old will miss the opening English Premier League game against Burnley at Stamford Bridge on August 12, Completesportsigeria.com reports.
Moses was sent off in the FA Cup final in May for a second bookable offence and it was reported that the Nigerian international will miss the London derby at Wembley.
The Italian coach also ruled out two key players from the clash.
"This is an official game. This is the first trophy in this season. This is an important game for us," Conte said during Friday's press conference.
"Friendly games ended for us.
"Moses is eligible to play on Sunday but I have to find the best solution to replace him against Burnley."
Conte also ruled out the exit of Hazard who has been mooted as a replacement for Neymar who joined Paris Saint-Germain from Barcelona on Friday in a world record fee of €222m.
"Hazard is very happy to stay with us, to play with Chelsea and to recover from his injury and to start the season with us," Conte added.
"Eden, as you know, has an ankle problem. Bakayoko had surgery on his knee and he is working very well.
"We have to be patient. They are improving a lot in terms of their physical condition, but they are not ready to start the season.
"Eden Hazard and Tiemoue Bakayoko are working to try to recover very soon but they are not available for Sunday’s game."m
"We are trying to buy the players, not to sell. Otherwise the number is always less and we are in trouble.“
On the decision to sell Matic to Manchester United, Conte said: "You have to ask to the club about this."
He also hinted that Chelsea's new £58m striker Alvaro Morata, could be deployed up front with Michy Batshuayi for Sunday's clash.
"Morata needs a bit of time but he is working well. I don’t know what my decision will be but he is a really good player and person," the former Italy manager added.
"I have another day to make the best decision. Morata is working very well and trying to reach the best physical condition.
"I tried the combination. For sure, Morata wants to play as a number nine but with his characteristics he could play number 10."
"[Playing Batshuayi and Morata together] could be an option. When you have Hazard and Pedro injured, I don’t see other options.
"They are trying to do the best for our team and our squad. Now we have to wait and have patience to improve our squad."
Regarding the game, the former Juventus captain said: "Chelsea and Arsenal aren't in the best form because we are in the first part of the season, but we want to play with high intensity.
"‘I think the friendlies have ended for us, this is an official game and the first trophy of the season. It’s an important game."
