The Nigeria Boxing Federation, NBF has invited 22 boxers for trials ahead of the 2016 Olympic Games qualifiers billed to hold in Cameroun, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Secretary General of the Nigeria Boxing Federation, Olusola Luke who disclosed this to Completesportsnigeria.com on Wednesday informed that two foreign based boxers; Sadiq Umar based in the United Kingdom and Belgium based Gabriel Francis who will face Efetobor Apochi in the heavy weight category top the list of boxers invited for the tournamnet.
According to Olusola, Congo Brazzaville 2015 All Africa Games Gold medalist, Edith Ogoke–Agu and her two compatriots in the Nigerian Army; Kehinde Obareh and Caroline Linus are among the twenty-two boxers (18 men and 4 women) that resumed camping at the General Kenneth Minimah boxing hostel, National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos on Wednesday.
Toyin Oladeji, Falilat Tijani and Jacinta Umunakwe complete the list of women boxers invited.
Also invited is another 2015 All Africa Games Gold Medalist, Efe Ajagba and Silver Medalist, Apochi Efetobor while Muyideen Oyakojo, Dauda Azeez, Soyoye Kazeem, Oladosu Rilwan, Femi Oyeleye, Abua Christian, Korede Adeniyi, Ademuyiwa Kehinde, Ayodele Mike, Danuloko Ekele, Rahmon Rasak and Kenneth Rolands, also made the list of inivtees.
Tony Konyegwachie, Adurah Olalehin, Sabo Mohammed, Ossai Christopher and Jeremiah Okorodudu are the five coaches appointed by the federation to guide the athletes in camp and the trials that will be conducted on Saturday.
Only ten boxers (7 men and 3 women) will be selected to represent Nigeria at the RIO 2016 Olympics qualifiers holding in cameroun from March 8 – 20 2016.
