Sports Minister Solomon Dalung has promised to put a stop to the constant firing of coaches by the Nigeria Football Federation in a concerted effort to move football forward, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
“Hiring and firing of coaches is not in the best interest of the country and must be stopped if we must progress,” Dalung said. “Continuity is key to moving forward, we cannot move forward when we allow a situation where three coaches executed just four matches of AFCON qualifier within one year
“We are meeting with the NFF on Tuesday to review the performance of football under my watch and find a way forward . The meeting is very, very crucial to recent happenings in football and I will wait to hear from the board of the NFF before taking actions
“The truth is that we have not measured up to the expectations of Nigerians and the sooner we tell ourselves the whole truth the better for football in Nigeria. The build-up to the qualified was marred with threats of sacking, resignation and litigation against the NFF, it is not conducive for success of our football.”
