The Abuja National stadium will henceforth hosts the games of the Super Eagles starting with June 12’s AFCON group G opening game against Chad,Complete Sports can report.
The Nigeria Football Federation had last year announced that the new Akwa Ibom international stadiium will be the new home of the Super Eagles after the opening of the stadium but recent developments have made the federation to make a u-turn.
‘The Super Eagles will now play their home games at the Abuja National stadium,’revealed a top NFF official.
Although the official did not give any reason for the u-turn,Complete Sports scooped that it may not be unconnected with the attitude of the Akwa Ibom state government following the failure of the NFF to bring Brazil to play against the Super Eagles last month.
The NFF adopted the U.J Esuene stadium,Calabar as Eagles home for the qualifiers for both the 2014 FIFA World Cup and the 2015 AFCON qualifiers.
The Golden Eaglets also made use of the stadium in the successful assault on the FIFA U-17 World Cup two years ago.
