EAGLES GOALS GALORE: Iwobi, Odemwingie, Troost-Ekong, Babatunde On Target

Super Eagles in-form forward Alex Iwobi put up another scintilating performance after his Camp Nou showing for Arsenal when he scored his first ever senior goal against Everton on Saturday at Goodison Park.

Iwobi, 19, making his first Premier League start, raced past Everton defender Funes Mori before firiing home a low drive across Joel Robles three minutes before the break to keep his side in the title race.

He was replaced in the 86th minute by Callum Chambers and handed his Man of the Match award after the game. The game was his 14th Arsenal appearance overall so far this season.

At Vicarage Road, Odion Ighalo stretched his goal drought in the English Premier League to seven games when failed to score in Watford’s 2-1 loss to Stoke City despite playing all 90 minutes in the encounter.

The Nigerian international has found the back of the net 16 times in all competitions so far this season and is four goals away from equalling his 20 goals scored for the Hornets in the Championship last term.

At Stamford Bridge, Mikel Obi made his 18th EPL appearance for Chelsea who forced Emmanuel Emenike’s West Ham to a 2-2.

It was Mikel’s 25th game in all competitions for the stuttering Blues this campaign.

His compatriot Emenike came on for Enner Valencia for the last 15 minutes in what was Emenike’s sixth game for the Hammers since joining on loan from Fenerbache in January.

Victor Anichebe watched from the bench at the Hawthorns for a second straight game in West Brom’s 1-0 loss to Norwich City.

The former Nigerian international has made 12 appearances this season.

In the English Championship, Osaze Odemwingie scored his first goal in the colours of Bristol City who annihilated Bolton Wanderers 6-0 on Saturday at Ashton Gate to register their biggest win of the season and further ease their relegation fears.

Odemwingie scored his side’s third goal in the 53rd minute rifling a thunderous strike from the edge of the box.

Carl Ikeme conceded his 32nd goal of the season in his 25th appearance for Wolverhampton Wanderers who drew 1-1 away at Burnley.

The Super Eagles first choice has only kept seven clean sheets this season.

In Spain, Isaac Success was sent off for dissent in Granada’s 2-1 home win over Rayo Vallencano on Saturday. It was the first time the former U-17 and U-20 player will receive the marching orders in his career. Success has scored five times in 29 La Liga games.

At the Weser-Stadion in Germany, Anthony Ujah was a 75th minute substitute for Levin Mete Oztunali in Werder Bremen’s 1-1 draw at home to Mainz 05 who did not parade the injured Leon Balogun.

In Scotland, Efe Ambrose was left out of the Celtic squad that beat Kilmarnock by a lone goal due to suspension while Juwon Oshaniwa watched from the bench as Hearts lost 3-1 to St.Johnstone. Ambrose has made 18 Scottish Premiership appearances for Celtic this season.

In Denmark, Izunna Uzochukwu came on for Azer Busuladic with five minutes remaining in Odense’s 2-0 away win over Hobro at the DS Arena.

In Norway, Nigerian defender William Troost-Ekong scored his first ever goal in Europe this season for FK Haugesund in their 3-0 win over Alesund.

Michael Babatunde scored his third goal for Raja Casablanca in their 2-0 win over Chabab Rif Hoceima.
