The Golden Eaglets scored their 170th goal in their tune-up games ahead of the FIFA U-17 World Cup after they beat Henfield Football Club 6-1 at the NFF\FIFA Goal Project in Abuja, on Thursday.
According to thenff.com, the game which was watched by NFF board members, saw striker Orji Okonkwo, grab a first half hat-trick which incidentally brought their goal tally to 170 goals in 55 tune-up games.
Other scorers for the Eaglets were Promise Orji, Kelechi Nwakali and Ginika Ifeanyi. Henfield’s only goal was scored by Muhammed Abiola.
Reacting after the match, ex-Eaglets coach, Manu Garba, who watched the game, praised Orji and Nwakali.
Garba also said with more tune-up games, the team will be ready for the World Cup,
“I’m quite impressed with the way Orji and Nwakali took their chances which is very good,” Garba said.
“The team’s general performance was very good especially in the first half and with many more matches, they would get better for the World Cup.”
