Heartland of Owerri goalkeeper, Ebere Obi, is on the verge of a mid-season transfer to FC Ifeanyi ubah, Completesportsnigeria.com checks have revealed.
Ebere, immediate elder brother of Chelsea of England midfielder and Super Eagles captain Mikel, joined Heartland in 2013 following a move from Enugu Rangers.
The move will come as a big shock as Obi was recently violently assaulted by FC IfeanyiUbah owner, Ifeanyi Ubah, during a league match.
The goalkeeper was at the centre of the ugly scenes that overshadowed the Nigeria Professional Football League match day 8 clash in Nnewi which the home side, FC Ifeanyiubah, won 1-0.
The incident saw the goalkeeper sanctioned with a six-match suspension and a further N750,000.00 fine by the organisers of the Nigeria top flight, League Management Company.
Similarly, Ubah was handed a hefty 10-match ban with four suspended as well as a N2.5m fine for his role in the incident.
While Obi, through his club Heartland FC, appealed unsuccessfully against his sanction, Ubah accepted his punishment.
With the 2015/2016 NPFL season on its half way mark, ushering in a two-week transfer period, FC Ifeanyiubah have made the Heartland goalkeeper their first transfer target.
Ubah has personally invited Obi to come and join the club.
Complete Sports checks revealed that Obi arrived in Nnewi on Sunday ahead of personal terms discussions with the oil and gas magnate.
“I don’t think I’ll be part of Heartland Football Club in the second stanza of the season,” Obi, who had previously starred for Mighty Jets of Jos before a switch to Rangers in 2004, told Completesportsnigeria.com.
“As we speak right now, I’m at Nnewi. FC Ifeanyiubah President, Dr Patrick Ubah, has invited me to come and join them.
“I arrived in Nnewi on Sunday and I’m in a hotel as we speak. He went to Port Harcourt for the Joseph Yobo Testimonial.
“From there he went to Owerri where Nwankwo Kanu launched his club, Papilo FC, on Saturday.
“I’ll be at his house so we can talk.”Uncover how I make $750 weekly on Facebook using never been revealed Social Media tools.
