Former Nigeria U-20 player Elderson Echiejile is disappointed the Flying Eagles will not be featuring at the African U-20 Cup of Nations in Zambia, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
The Flying Eagles lost 4-3 at home to a 10-man Sudanese side having won the first leg 2-1 in Omdurman, a result which Echiejile feels was shocking.
Echiejile who was discovered from the youth ranks to the senior national team feared most players could be gone into extinction with the team’s inability to qualify for the U-20 AFCON.
“That was a shocker,” the Monaco star told Completesportnsnigeria.com.
“It’s so sad that we failed to qualify for the U-20 AFCON but we have to move on and help develop these young talents that made us proud a year ago in Chile.”
It was the first time in 13 years that the Flying Eagles lost at home and failed to qualify for the U-20 AFCON tournament.Jiji.ng the cheapest online shopping in Nigeria.
