Super Eagles defender Elderson Echiejile played all 90 minutes for AS Monaco who defeated Evian-Thonon-Gaillard FC 2-0 at the Stade Louis II on Wednesday to ease into the Last 16 of the Coupe de France.
Leonardo Jardim’s men maintained their interest in all four competitions in which they started the campaign with a deserved win at a rain-soaked Stade Louis II.
The Monegasque took a deserved lead in the 63rd minute, when Lucas Ocampos capitalised on two successive rebounds from shots by Germain and Silva to open the scoring with a firm side-footed finish.
Substitute Anthony Martial clipped a low shot in off a post to cap a counter-attack two minutes from time and send his side through.
Echiejile will square up against his compatriot Vincent Enyeama in Saturday’s Ligue 1 clash at the Louis stadium.
Monaco are currently placed fifth with 36 points from 21 games, five points adrift of the Champions League qualifying spot.
