Egypt’s coach Hector Cuper is unfazed that his side will be tackling heavyweights Nigeria in the Nations Cup qualifiers insisting the Pharaohs don’t fear any opponent.
The Pharaohs were paired in Group G alongside continental heavyweights Nigeria and minnows Tanzania and Chad.
“We don’t fear people. We respect them,” Cuper said in a television interview on Thursday when asked about the draw.
“Our target is to win all the games to secure a place in the upcoming Nations Cup.”
The seven-time African champions have failed to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations since 2010, when they clinched their last continental title under the guidance of Egyptian coach Hassan Shehata.
Last month the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) appointed Hector Cuper as the Pharaohs new coach to replace sacked coach Shawki Gharib, who was dismissed after Egypt failed to qualify for the African Cup for the third time in a row.
Cuper’s first challenge will be to bounce back into Africa’s football elite after three failed attempts in a row but the ultimate aim is to achieve the long-held dream of qualifying for the World Cup, a moment Egyptians haven’t savoured since 1990.Jiji.ng the cheapest online shopping in Nigeria.
