Nigeria's rivals in the race for a 2017 Africa Cup of Nations ticket, Egypt, will be without key defender Ahmed Dewidar in their friendly against Burkina Faso on Sunday in Alexandria due to injury.
The Egyptian Football Association revealed in a statement on Wednesday via its official website that Dewidar has been ruled out for the game which the North Africans intend to use as part of their preparations ahead of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in March 25 against Sunday Oliseh's team.
The Zamalek FC defender according to the EFA website has been replaced by another defender.
"Masry Defender Mohamed Magdy has been called up to join the national team camp to replace injured Dewidar," the statement on the website confirmed.
Egypt's Argentinian manager Hector Cuper had called up 24 Egypt-based players, including Zamalek's stopper Dewidar, for the Pharaohs training camp which opened on Tuesday.
Dewidar strained his hamstring in Monday's 2-1 league win over Ittihad.
Under the guidance of Cuper, who took over in March 2015, Egypt played two friendly matches late on January; losing 1-0 to Jordan before beating Libya 2-0.
The Pharaohs are bidding to reach the Nations Cup for the first time since winning the last of their record seven titles in 2010.
They are on top of Group G of the Nations Cup qualifiers with a maximum six points from wins over Tanzania and Chad.
The Super Eagles are second in the table with four points.
