The Pharoahs of Egypt who are one of Nigeria's Group G opponents in the 2017 African Cup of Nations qualifiers will start a training camp ahead of their first game of the AFCON qualifiers against Tanzania.
While the Super Eagles of Nigeria tackle Chad on June 13 at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium Kaduna, the Egyptians will be taking on Tanzania the following day in Cairo behind closed doors due to security concerns.
Some of the Egyptian players joined the camp on Tuesday, including Mohamed Abdel-Shafy (Saudi's Ahly), Ahmed Hegazy (Italy's Perugia), Rami Rabia (Portugal's Sporting Lisbon) and Karim Hafez (Belgium's Lierse) according to ahram.org.eg
The team has been out of competitive action since November when they failed to qualify for the 2015 African Cup of Nations, under former coach Shawky Gharib.
They have only played a friendly game in March, weeks after Cuper’s appointment, defeating Equatorial Guinea 2-0.
