Emmanuel Emenike could be handed his first start for West Ham in Sunday’s FA Cup tie against Blackburn Rovers.
The Hammers will be without strikers Enner Valencia and Andy Carroll after both players suffered injuries in the 2-2 draw at Norwich City last Saturday leaving the Fenerbache loanee as the only fit striker for the game following Nikica Jelavic’s departure to the Chinese league.
Valencia injured his ankle and Carroll suffered a muscle problem during last weekend’s draw at Carrow Road, West Ham’s head of medical and sports science Stijn Vandenbroucke said on the club’s website.
“Unfortunately, two players suffered injuries in the 2-2 draw at Norwich City on Saturday and will not be available for Sunday’s trip to Ewood Park,” Vandenbroucke said.
“Enner Valencia suffered a right ankle injury in a tackle during the second half and came off, while Andy Carroll injured his adductor.”
Meanwhile, Diafra Sakho is unlikely to return to full training until Monday as he recovers from a thigh strain.
Emenike has made two substitute appearances since joining the club.
