Nigeria Professional Football League champions Enyimba are hopeful a win in wednesday's rescheduled fixture against basement side Ikorodu United will help them revive their fading title hopes, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
The Peoples Elephant have failed to replicate last season's form which saw them win a record seventh league title struggling to maintain top form both domestically and on the continent.
A win against Ikorodu United will see them move from their current seventh position to fourth and reduce the gap between them and leaders Rivers United to four points.
The task won't be easy though as their hosts are in fantastic form at the moment. The Oga Boys are unbeaten in their last four games and head into the game on the back of a convincing wins against big guns Heartland and Kano Pillars.
Despite their impressive form, Enyimba captain Chinedu Udoji stated that his side must seize the opportunity to mount a late charge to defend their title.
"It's been a tough season for us but we have a chance to fight for the title now even though we are not in control of things at the moment," the former FC Abuja centre- back told Completesportsnigeria.com.
"Ikorodu United are in a good run at the moment but we have the quality to beat them.
"After this, we have three fixtures left and we have to keep fighting until the end of the season."
