Glo Premier League leaders Enyimba’s Glo Premier League title credentials will be tested when they face local rivals, Abia Warriors, in what is expected to be a tightly contested Oriental derby at the Umuahia Township Stadium on Sunday.
Kadiri Ikhana’s men are yet to record a win against the Abia State capital city side in the top flight. Both sides battled to a 2-2 draw in the reverse fixture earlier in the season.
The Peoples Elephant who have the best away record in the league this season have struggled on their travels in recent weeks.
They will however look up to the likes of Ezekiel Bassey, Musa Najare, Chinedu Udoji and Nzube Anaezamba to come up with the goods once again.
Abia Warriors who are still in the hunt for a continental ticket will bank on their top scorer and main man, Chisom Chikatara, to affirm their superiority over their Abia rivals.
Second-placed Giwa FC, who are unbeaten in their last six games, will tackle Heartland in Owerri.
The Jos-based outfit will welcome back experienced defender, Nojeem Raji, who missed the midweek 3-2 win against Wikki Tourists due to suspension for the game.
Warri Wolves have a chance to revive their title hopes when they host bottom side, Bayelsa United, at the Warri City Stadium.
The Seasiders will be without their top scorer Gbolahan Salami who is injured. They will bank on the duo of Oghenekaro Etebo and Kufre Ebong for goals.
Big defender, Oke Oghagatewho, is out of the game after picking a red card in their game against Lobi Stars.
Fourth-placed Wikki Tourists will entertain relegation-haunted Dolphins Football Club of Port Harcourt in Bauchi.
At the Akure Township Stadium, Sunshine Stars will look to end their recent poor run of form when they take on Lobi Stars.
The Owena Waves who are out of the title race still have a decent chance of picking a continental ticket and need a win against the Pride of Benue to get their season back on track.
It will be a battle between two relegation-threatened sides in Ilorin as Kwara United and Taraba United fight for their survival.
The home side who have conceded the most goals (nine) in the last six rounds in the league must work on their porous defence if they are to earn a positive result in the game.
Sharks are up against Nasarawa United in Lafia. The Blue Angels will need to be at their best to overcome their in-form hosts who are looking to secure a berth on the continent.
Shooting Stars will host FC IfeanyiUbah at their fortress in Ibadan, while Rangers and Akwa United will clash at the Nnamdi Azikwe Stadium, Enugu.
The last fixture for the weekend will see northern rivals El-Kanemi Warriors and Kano Pillars slug it out at the Karkanda Stadium, Katsina.
