Former Nigeria international, Etim Esin, has hailed the promotion of Kelechi Iheanacho to the Manchester City first team squad for the 2015/2016 EPL season.
On Wednesday, Iheanacho, alongside two other academy graduates, Jason Denayer and Marcos Lopes, were confirmed during City’s annual award ceremony.
In a chat with completesportsnigeria.com, Esin described it as good news to Nigerian football.
“It’s a welcome development for our football,” Esin said. “He has been doing his best and I have been following him in Manchester City’s pre-season tour, he has been trying his best.
“They’ve decided to give him a chance after investing so much on him and I believe he will not disappoint because he has shown how talented he is.”
Esin went on to express confidence that Iheanacho will enjoy a run of games in the first team in the coming season.
“I believe he will get to play in some games despite the number of top players in the squad,” Esin told completesportsnigeria.com.
“He has shown that he has what it takes to be in the first team and play alongside the experience ones players. So I am not scared about his chances of playingUncover how I make $750 weekly on Facebook using never been revealed Social Media tools.
