England maintained their leadership of Group F after defeating old foes Scotland 3-0 at Wembley Stadium on Friday night in the European 2018 World Cup qualifiers.
Liverpool's Daniel Sturbridge put England 1-0 up in the 24th minute. Club teammate, Adam Lallana made it 2-0 in the 50th minute before Chelsea defender, Gary Cahill added the third goal on 61 minutes.
The win takes England to 10 points, two points ahead of closest rivals Slovania who are on eight points.
In Group A, France, playing at home, came from a goal down to beat Sweden 2-1. They move to 10 points and three points clear of the Swedes.
Emil Forsberg gave Sweden the lead in the 54th minute. Three minutes later, world most expensive player, Paul Pogba equalised for France before West Ham's Dimitri Payer scored the winner on 65 minutes.
In other results, world champions Germany destroyed minnows San Marino 8-0 in Group C. Serge Gnabry scored a hat trick, while Jonas Hector netted a brace. The other scorers for Germany are Sami Khedira with the curtain raiser and Kevin Volland. San Marino's Mattia Stefanelli scored an own which gifted Germany their seventh of the match.
In other notable matches, Czech Republic edged Norway 2-1, Northern Ireland beat Azerbaijan 4-0, Slovakia also thrashed Lithuania 4-0, while Poland stunned Romania 3-0 away.
