Last season’s Europa League finalsts Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk’s Nigerian winger Michael Babatunde is confident of his side’s chances of progressing from the Europa League group stage despite being drawn in the same pool as Saint Etienne, Rosenburg and SS Lazio in Group G.
The Nigeria international added that he is relishing the prospect of coming up against Lazio’s Ogenyi Onazi in the competition.
Incidentally, it was Onazi’s fierce shot which broke Babatunde’s arm anc put paid to his 2014 World Cup campaign.
“There’s always a source of motivation when you come up against your compatriot in these games and the game against Lazio is one that brings that,” Babatunde told Completesportsnigeria.commomemt after Friday’s draw.
“They (Lazio) were unlucky to have lost in that manner to Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League play-offs second leg (3-0) but I can assure that Dnipro will not take them lightly when we meet.”
Babatunde who will make his third appearance for his new team on Saturday against Kaparty is confident that last season’s Europa League finalists can compete with Shakhtar Donetsk and Dynamo Kyov for the Ukrainian title.
“We have a good team in Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk and our objectives this season is clear which is to win titles and I’m extra motivated to achieve this,” the 2014 World Cup star for the Super Eagles told Completesportsnigeria.com.
