By Johnny Edward:
Hapoel Beer Sheva midfielder, John Ogu, has hailed his side’s performance against Inter Milan, claiming that they will fight to the finish with Southampton to qualify from Group K, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
The reigning Israeli Champions found themselves 2-0 down just before the hour mark with goals from the Nerazzurri skipper, Mauro Icardi and Marcelo Brozovi.
But an inspired comeback from Ogu and his teammates clawed the scoreline back to win the game, thanks to strikes from Maranhao, Anthony Nwakaeme and Ben Sahar.
"We were unfortunate to go in 2-0 down," Ogu told Completesportsnigeria.com.
"And in the second half, we knew we had to dig in, and if we could get one goal there, it would be time for us to get something out of the game."
The results sees third placed Hapoel Beer Sheva tie on seven points with second placed Southampton whom they face in their final group game at Saint Mary’s Stadium.
The reverse fixture ended goalless and Ogu remains confident going into the winner-takes-all match against Southampton, who lost 1-0 at Sparta Prague. However, score draw will see Hapoel Beer Sheva through to the next round of the Europa League.
“We know it will be a long fight to the end and we will be there until the end.”
Ogu wrote on his Twitter handle after the game: "Thank you Great God for the wonderful victory. Proud of the team and our wonderful fans for a great support. Focus now on Sunday against Kfar Saba."
Hapoel Beer Sheva who lead the Israeli Ligat Al with five points travel to Hapoel Kfar Saba while second place Maccabi Tel Aviv face Bnei Yehuda Tel Aviv on Sunday.
