Europa: Rooney, Darmian Out Of Man United Squad To Midjtylland

Manchester United have left out captain Wayne Rooney from their Europa League first-leg tie against Danish side FC Midtjylland on Thursday.

Italian defender Matteo Darmian is also out after dislocating his shoulder on Saturday against Sunderland.

Donald Love, who made his first-team debut in the loss against the Black Cats, is included in the squad.

Under-21 players Regan Poole, Joe Riley and James Weir are on the trip to Denmark and could make their senior debuts for the Red Devils.

Rooney has scored seven goals in his last nine games but was missing from the flight to Scandinavia.

Louis van Gaal is expected to explain Rooney’s absence at a news conference later on Wednesday.

United enter the competition at the last-32 stage after finishing third in their Champions League group behind Wolfsburg and PSV.
