Nigeria’s Falconets have qualified for next year’s FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Papua New Guinea after they beat South Africa 1-0 in the second leg of the final round of the qualifiers.
At the Makhulong Stadium, Tembisa, on Sunday Chiwendu Ihezuo scored the only goal of the match in the 16th minute, to give the Falconets a 3-1 aggregate win, after they won the first leg 2-1.
The Falconets have now qualified for their eighth straight U-20 Women’s World Cup since making their debut in the maiden edition in Canada 2002.
At the 2014 edition in Canada, the Falconets lost 1-0 to Germany in the final.
And also at the 2010 edition, they lost 2-0 to hosts Germany.
