By Richard Jideaka, Abuja:
Super Falcons interim coach Christopher Danjuma has boasted that Super Falcons will beat Equatorial Guinea away stIll qualify for the Rio Olympic Games despite playing 1-1 draw with their Equatorial Guinea in Abuja on Saturday.
Halimat Ayinde scored for the Super Falcons in the 27th minute while Chinasa Okoro equalised for the visitors in the 62nd minute.
Coach Danjuma blamed the draw on ill-luck and the low morale of the players borne out of the death of team media officer Gracious Akujobi, adding that all hope is not lost.
"We shall beef up the team for the second leg with the inclusion of Asisat Oshoala and Onome Ebi and get a result that will see Super Falcons qualify for the next round. We are hopeful that we can get a good result in Malabo," Danjuma told completesportsnigeria.com.
"They should not celebrate yet because we can do better than what they did against us in Abuja when we play them in Malabo. We are optimistic that Equatorial Guinea will not eliminate us from the Brazil Olympics. We shall beat them at their home.
"The players were emotionally down over the death of Gracious and it took a lot of psyching and prayers to get them fit to play this game. Hopefully, they would have overcome the trauma before the second leg."
