General Secretary of Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, Dr Mohammed Sanusi has confirmed that Nigeria’s senior women’s national team, Super Falcons are expected to depart the shores of the country on May 19 for the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup finals holding in Canada.
The Falcons are logged in group D alongside USA, Australia and Sweden with the championship slated to kick off June 6 through July 5.
“The team will depart for Canada on May 19, God willing”, Dr Sanusi said.
While in Canada, the NFF Secretary said several friendly games have been lined up for the team to ensure they adequately prepare for the championship Nigeria has not won.
“While in Canada, we’re making arrangements to see that they played some friendly matches to fine tune their strategies before the championship commences”, he added.
The team, under Coach Edwin Okon has been in Abuja camp preparing for the championship.
Coach Okon had called up several of Nigeria foreign based players to strengthen the squad ahead of the championship.
