Portland Timbers Nigerian striker, Fanendo Adi, has been named in the American Major League Soccer team of the week for matchday seven, Completesportsnigeria.com can report.
The 25-year-old forward struck his 11th career MLS brace over the weekend to help Portland beat San Jose Earthquakes 3-1.
Adi was picked alongside former Tottenham and Villarreal striker Giovani dos Santos and Fabian Castillo in attack.
Two Real Salt Lake players made the team together for the first time.
Adi who was delighted to see his side back to winning ways following their home win admitted his team were second best in the first half of the encounter.
“The first half you see it wasn’t real amazing, but in the second half we came out with high spirit and we did well in the second half and got the very important goals,” he told the Timbers official website.
Other players in the team of the week are Nick Rimando, Steven Beitashour, Laurent Ciman, Demar Phillips, Justin Meram, Ignacio Piatti, Jermaine Jones, Andreas Ivanschitz, Giovani dos Santos, Fabian Castillo.
