By Adeboye Amosu: Flying Eagles players are looking to record a win in Sunday's Africa U-20 Nations Cup qualifying fixture away to Sudan after securing a 2-1 win against amateur side City Strikers in their last tune-up before the game on Tuesday. reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
Gavin Thompson and Victor Osimhen scored both goals for Emmanuel Amuneke's side in the encounter.
"We are fired up for the game against Sudan and nothing will stop us for making it to Zambia," the team's goalkeeper, Akpan Udoh told Completesportsnigeria.com.
"The friendlies we have played have really prepared us for the game, and it will be disappointing if we don't pick the ticket at the end of the day."
The African champions beat Burundi home and away in the previous round and forward Funsho Bamgboye hopes they can replicate the result against Sudan.
"We are not going to Sudan to play for draw, but rather to win and make things easy in the second leg.
"The Burundians put up a good fight against us in the previous round and we don't want to take things for granted against Sudan.
"We have worked so hard to get to this stage and don't want to throw everything away by failing to qualify for the Africa Championship," he stated.
Meanwhile, the Flying Eagles who were earlier scheduled to fly out to Sudan for the game on Wednesday (today) will travel on Thursday morning via Ethiopian Airline.
The winner of the tie will qualify for the Africa U-20 Nations Cup billed for Zambia in February 2017.
The four semi-finalists at the competition will represent the continent in South Korea.
