–Set to play Kano Pillars
By James Agberebi:
The Flying Eagles defeated Nigeria National League side, Spotlight of Katsina 3-1 in a friendly match played in Kaduna.
This was revealed to Completesportsnigeria.com by assistant coach of the Flying Eagles Nduka Ugbade.
The game played at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium. Kaduna, saw the trio of Akinjide Idowu, Izu Omego and Obinna Nwobodo scoring for the Coach Manu Garba-led side, while Samuel Adama grabbed Spotlight’s only goal.
Assistant coach of the Flying Eagles Nduka Ugbade told Completesportsnigeria.com
that it was an interesting game, but lamented the team’s inability to put away some of their chances.
“It was a very interesting match between the two teams, they both gave a good account of themselves but we lost a lot of chances to record a wide goal margin,” Ugbade remarked.
The former Golden Eaglets assistant coach hinted that the team might play NPFL champions Kano Pillars aside from the six-team tourney which will begin on the 22nd of January.
Ugbade added: “We might be playing Kano Pillars on Sunday or Monday in Kaduna then the six-team tourney which will start on the 22nd of this month.”
Reacting to the failure of Manchester City to release the duo of Kelechi Iheanacho and Chidiebere Nwakali for the AYC coming up in Senegal, Ugbade assured the two players won’t be missed.
“It is sad that they will not be part of the team. We have been together right from the U-17, but we are not going to miss them because we have players that have fit in into their positions. And the fact is that we are not relying on individual players but on a team, this is why we have almost about 50 players who have been part of the team from the beginning.”Unblock the FIFA World Cup with ExpressVPN the #1 Trusted Name in VPN
