The Flying Eagles will play in Group D or E of the FIFA U20 World Cup this summer following their qualification for Sunday’s final of the CAF U20 Youth Championship, Completesportsnigeria.com can report.
Manu Garba’a team defeated the Black Satellites 2-0 on Wednesday to reach the final where they hope to win their seventh AYC title.
The Draw for the championship made in February by FIFA has already placed Africa’s four representatives in different groups depending on how they finish, and being in the final means the Flying Eagles can either finish as number one or number two.
Should the Flying Eagles finish as African champions on Sunday, they will play in Group E of the FIFA U-20 World Cup in New Zealand against Brazil, North Korea and Hungary.
And should the team be beaten by either Mali or Senegal, the Flying Eagles will tackle Mexico, Uruguay and Serbia in Group D.
Africa’s number three, to be determined between Ghana and the loser of Thursday’s second semi final, will play in Group B against Argentina, Panama and Australia, while Africa’s number four will be up against Qatar, Colombia and Portugal in Group C.
