Kano Pillars captain, Gambo Mohammed, has told Completesportsnigeria.com that he is lucky to be alive after sustaining a head injury in his side's match day 12 clash against Rivers United last weekend.
Gambo who missed the start of last season after sustaining gun shot injuries following an attack on Kano Pillars team bus on their way to honour a Nigeria Professional Football League game against Heartland in Owerri, suffered a rupture of the tympanic membrane after a mid-air collision with Rivers United forward, Wilson Andoh.
He told Completesportsnigeria.com that he is happy to have survived another major injury scare in his career.
"That I'm alive today is a miracle and I want to give glory to God for making me survive the incident on Sunday," the striker told Completesportsnigeria.com.
"The doctors did a good job in helping me get back to my feet. I had a close shave with death once again after what happened last year.
"The good thing is that I'm alive to tell the story today."
The former Nigeria international underwent tests at the Murtala Mohammed Teaching Hospital, Kano on Wednesday and has been cleared of any complications from the injury.
"The doctors have certified me fit, but I still need to rest for a while before returning to action.
"So, I will not be part of the game against Shooting Stars this weekend."
