National U-20 Coach Manu Garba has told Complete Sports that his team is in shape ahead of the African Youth Championship billed to hold in Senegal following their impressive performance at the just concluded Glo Super Six tournament held in Abuja.
Garba who led the National U-17 team to win the last FIFA U-17 World Cup told Complete Sports that playing in the Glo tournament has really helped his boys to get their minds focused ahead of the Senegal tournament.
“I feel happy that these boys have the opportunity of taking part in a tournament like this before the African Youth Championship and I can tell you that the experience we gained from this tournament will be of great help to us when we get to Senegal”, says the dark complexioned coach.
“The boys are in shape but we are still working hard to be at that perfect state before going for the AYC and I have equally told them that they still need to work hard because what we are going to see in Senegal will be more than what we have seen in this tournament but if we are well prepared, I don’t think we are going to have any problem over there.
The Nigeria’s Flying Eagles will play Senegal, Congo and Cote d’Ivoire at the African Youth Championship which holds between March 8 and 22.
Meanwhile, Coach Garba has called on the Nigeria Football Federation to still ensure that the team plays more competitive games before the African Youth Championship.Jiji.ng the cheapest online shopping in Nigeria.
