Germany 1-0 Nigeria: Flying Eagles Exit U20 World Cup

Nigeria on Thursday morning at the Christchurch Stadium were defeated 1-0 by Germany to bow out of the FIFA U20 World Cup.

The Flying Eagles were second best in possession in the first half and the Germans made their domination count in the 19th minute when midfielder Kingsley Sokari lost possession which Borussia Dortmund youngster, Mark Stendera pounced on and laid a pass to Oztunali who finished off with aplomb with a left-footed shot.

The Germans kept the pressure going and Hany Mukhtar's two dangerous headers were punched away by Joshua Enaholo.

The Eagles came off their straps in the second half with some purposeful play, Manu Garba replacing Godwin Saviour with Isaac Success.

Taiwo Awoniyi was sent clear by a long pass by Zaharadeen Bello in the 60th minute but the striker fell over his laces in the German box as Isaac Success waited for a lay-off much to the frustration of the Nigerian bench.

The boys played and won their own final match against Hungary but played below expectation against Germany. "ALL" the blames must go to their coach who thought it wise though non-tactical to use a goalkeeper that conceded unexpected goals. That goalkeeper should never appear in Nigeria colour represention us AGAIN. The coach should actually go back to school. He disappointed me and Nigerains woefully.
