The Golden Eaglets played a 1-1 draw against South Korea in their first game at the Suwon Invitational Tournament on Wednesday.
Lee Sangheon put South Korea ahead as early as the third minute. But the Eaglets leveled the scoreline thanks to a 26th minute equalizer by Funsho Bamgboye.
In the tournament’s other game, Brazil defeated Croatia 2-1.
Reacting to the result, Eaglets coach, Emmanuel Amuneke, described the outcome of the game as fair.
“I think it was a fair result though we would have loved to win,” told the Nigeria Football Federation website.
“It was a good game for us; we created more chances in the second half though we failed to take them.”
The Eaglets’ next game will be against Brazil, while host, South Korea, will square off against Croatia.
