Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola on Wednesday night spoke to the media in the aftermath of his team’s 1-0 defeat in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League semi finals fixtures against Atletico Madrid at the Vicente Calderon.
Saul Niguez struck in the 11th minute to hand Atletico the advantage going into the return leg and the coach who is bound to take over the reins at Manchester City next season was quoted by the official twitter handle of the German club.
“Their goal is a brilliant goal, but it’s our mistake. We kept standing off. I’m not happy with how we played,” Guardiola said.
“It was a good game overall, but we started badly. The goal was a consequence of our slow play.”
Bayern made late attempts to equalise and will need to beat the Spanish side with more than a goal advantage to reach the final.
