Hamilton Cautions NFF On Falcons’ Coach

By Izuchukwu Okosi:
Following calls for the replacement of Super Falcons coach Edwin Okon after Nigeria’s elimination at the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup, Nigeria’s first coach at the Women’s World Cup, Paul Hamilton has tasked the Nigeria Football Federation not to be in a hurry to find a successor.

Hamilton who guided the Falcons to the 1991 finals in China, when FIFA organised the Women’s World Cup for the first time bared his mind to Completesportsnigeria.com.

“Being eliminated in the first round of the World Cup was disappointing, but finding a replacement for the coach should not be rushed.

“There are pressures coming from all quarters now for the NFF to replace Okon, but I don’t think it’s the best to go and find a coach without also analysing other factors that might have contributed to their elimination.

“I feel our teams should be prepared better for major tournaments with top quality friendlies,” Hamilton told Completesportsnigeria.com.

Nigeria were eliminated in the group stages after two defeats to Australia and Germany, and a draw against Sweden.
