Hayatou Replaces Blatter As FIFA President

Confederation of African Football President Issa Hayatou is now acting President of FIFA following the suspension of Sepp Blatter over corruption allegations.

Incidentally, Hayatou himself was reprimanded by the International Olympic Committee in 2011 over bribery allegations.

An investigation into the corruption scandal in world football body FIFA led to 90-day bans for Blatter, UEFA President Michel Platini and FIFA secretary-general Jerome Valcke on Thursday.

Hayatou, 69, has been CAF President since 1988 and is the most senior member of the executive still around after allegations of corruption ripped apart the football governing body’s hierarchy.

Good for Afrincan football but Hayatou should resign as CAF president. It is not his birthright.
