Nigeria Professional Football League club, Heartland of Owerri, have renewed their appeal to the League Management Company to review downwards the six-match ban and N750,000 handed out to goalkeeper Ebele Obi, Mikel Obi’s elder brother, in the aftermath of the incident that overshadowed the club’s away game to FC Ifeanyiubah, Completesportsnigeria.com.
In the latest plea submitted to the organisers of the Nigerian top flight, the Naze Millionaires claim that even though they are not disputing the offence and having also accepted the sanctions, they are asking LMC to review the punishment on compassionate grounds.
“Obi erred we agree but he was assaulted and battered by someone who was supposed to ensure players’ safety,” Heartland media officer Solomon Onu told Completesportsnigeria.com.
“And come to think of it, the same goalkeeper who was battered was given similar punishment with his assailant.
“Does this make sense? Ifeanyi Ubah was given a 10-match ban with four suspended, meaning he was suspended for same six games like Ebele Obi.
“N750,000.00 is too much. Where is he or even the club going to get that amount of money from given the situation of things in the country at the moment?
“That’s why we’re pleading for LMC to review it downwards.

“Neither do you beat a child and ask him not to cry.”Jiji.ng the cheapest online shopping in Nigeria.
