Nigeria Professional Football League side, Heartland of Owerri are set to hand trials to undisclosed Kenyan and Ghanaian Premier League players, an official of the Naze Millionaires has informed Completesportsnigeria.com.
Though the official refused to disclose the names of the players because according to him, he was not mandated to speak to the press, he revealed that amongst players invited by the club for trials include some Flying Eagles and U-23 Dream Team players.
“There are also players coming from Akwa United for the two-day trials,” he revealed. “There are also players we listed from Kenyan top League, as well as those from Ghana.
“It’s going to be a two-day trial, not open screening. At the end of the day, only eight players will be selected.
“We retained 22 players. We’re going to add only eight so we are going to register 30 players for the season,” he added.
The Heartland official hinted that the club’s target in the coming season is to secure a continental ticket.
“We are renewing the contract of our coach, Bethel Orji. Continuity is important if success is to be achieved.
“It’s been quite a couple of seasons we’ve been out of the continent so our target this coming season is to ensure we picked the ticket to go back to the continent,” the official said without wanting to be named in print.
