Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL, side, Heartland of Owerri are considering setting up a close door camp in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, CompleteSportsnigeria.com reports.
Heartland, who pride themselves as Naze Millionaires, finished last season on seventh position with 56 points, and are aiming to finish among the top three this term.
“We have not taken a final decision yet but certainly we’re not going to Oba, near Onitsha,” offers Solomon Onu, spokesman of the club.
“Right now, we’re considering Port Harcourt and one other venue for our camping exercise.”
He disclosed that the camping exercise will commence next week.
“The camping exercise will start next week. We’re done with the screening exercise. Now is time for real business,” Onu added.
General Manager of the club, Oscar Keke told Completesportsnigeria.com that the Naze Millionaires are appalled by the death of Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, Protocol Officer, Ibrahim Abubakar, who was killed by armed robbers in his Abuja residence.
“Our thoughts go for the family of the late Ibrahim Abubakar. We also commiserate with the Nigeria Football Federation, the League Management Company and all members of the Nigerian football family,” Keke said while praying to God to grant late Abubakar’s soul eternal rest.
The remains of the late Abubakar was laid to rest Wednesday in his Kaduna Home according to Islamic rites.
