Heartland of Owerri have denied any wrongdoing in the allegations levelled against them by goalkeeper .
Spokesman of the club, Cajethan Nkwopara, admitted the goalkeeper sustained the injury when they went to honour a league match against Enyimba in Aba last year.
He however said the club took care of the medical expenses and even sent their doctor to Aba in a bid to sort everything out and bring the player to Owerri for closer medical attention and monitoring.
“We were shocked that the goalkeeper refused to follow the team doctor home,” he said.
“After his recovery, he fell short of form and was not considered for contract extension by the coaches, hence he was dropped and placed on half salary to
sustain himself.
“Though he demanded registration, he was told to look for a club elsewhere even as he at a point stopped collecting the money he was being paid.”
