Bright Ejike is delighted to have scored his first goal of the season for Heartland after his late penalty helped the Naze Millionaires beat Oriental rivals Enyimba 1-0 in their Nigeria Professional Football League matchday 26 clash on Saturday, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
The forward has struggled to make an impact for Heartland this season after an eventful campaign last term where he scored 13 goals to emerge as their top scorer.
He however picked the right moment to open his goal account for the season, netting the winner against their Oriental rivals, in what was his 13th appearance of the season for Alphonsus Dike’s men.
“It’s a wonderful feeling to score my first goal for Heartland this season,” Ejike told Completesportsigeria.com.
“It’s an important goal for me as it helped secure the three points against a tough rival (Enyimba).
“We still have a tough battle in our hands in our bid to escape relegation and I hope I can score more goals to help the club stay up.”
