Hiddink: Mikel’s Goal In Paris Gives Chelsea Hope

Chelsea boss Guus Hiddink has described Mikel Obi’s goal in the Blues’ 2-1 loss to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League as very decisive.

In the first leg round of 16 clash on Tuesday, Zlatan Ibrahimovic gave PSG the lead from a free-kick which deflected off Mikel.

The Super Eagles midfielder atoned for the home side’s goal by netting the vital away goal ahead of the reverse tie next month.

In his reaction after the game, Hiddink expressed confidence that Mikel’s goal keeps Chelsea firmly in the tie.

“The result is negative but on the other hand an away goal is important,” Hiddink said.

“It hurt a bit because the team was playing decently against a team with the capacity to play. But we are still in the race.

“Over two legs, it is important you have the away goal. If we can do it at Stamford Bridge then a defeat doesn’t count so much.

“We were not lethal enough at times but otherwise we can be relatively happy.”
