Guus Hiddink has ruled skipper John Terry out of Sunday’s FA Cup clash against Manchester City at Stamford Bridge.
Terry failed to recover in time for Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League tie away to Paris Saint-Germaine which chelsea lost 2-1.
In his press conference on Friday, Hiddink expressed disappointment on Terry’s unavailability but said he has confidenc in his replacement.
He also reveal that Radamel Falcao is another player ruled out of the game.
“He’s worked with the physios and was trying to be fit but there are too many problems for him to be fit for the weekend,” Hiddink said.
“We have a week and I hope next week he will be available. I cannot predict it. I think we have to be cautious with him- we must be careful.
“Of course it is disappointing. He has been a leader for this club for years.”
“I have complete confidence in his replacements as proven by the performance in Paris.”
“Falcao is the only other absentee for this weekend’s game.”
The Dutch tactician urged Eden Hazard, who has had a terrible season, to step up his game.
“Hazard was in a difficult situation but he has to step up. We have had some small talks. I hope he will do it soon.”
He stated that they will be wary of a Manchester City reaction.
“Man City were a bit unlucky in their last game and as a big team they are bound to react after two straight defeats.”
