Africa representatives at this year’s FIFA Club World Cup, TP Mazembe, were defeated 3-0 in the quarter-final by Japanese side Sanfrecce Hiroshima on Sunday.
Goals from Tsukasa Shiotani, Kazuhiko Chiba and Takuma Asano sealed the win for Hiroshima.
In the other quarter-final match also on Sunday, Chinese side Guagzhou Evergrande came from a goal down to beat Club America of Mexico 2-1.
The semi-final pairings will see Sanfrecce Hiroshima face River Plate of Argentina on Wednesday, while Barcelona will do battle against Guagzhou Evergrande on Thursday.
Meanwhile, TP Mazembe will slug it out against Club America for fifth place on Wednesday.
