Key members of the home-based Super Eagles side have revealed to Completesportsnigeria.com that they will shun moves abroad in order to play at the African Nations Championship.
The CHAN is reserved for senior players plying their trades in their country’s domestic leagues.
The likes of Sunday Mba and Ugonna Ugochukwu were part of the squad that qualified for the last edition of the competition in South Africa, but moved abroad afterwards.
“I have several offers on the table for me at the moment, but I won’t accept any of them until after the competition,” a regular member of the side revealed to Completesportsnigeria.com moments after they secured qualification to CHAN, following a 2-0 aggregate win against Burkina Faso on Sunday.
His view was corroborated by another teammate: “The CHAN is our own World Cup and it is a good shop window for us to showcase ourselves to the world.
“If we do well there, it will give us the chance to get better deals abroad instead of signing for peanuts.”
